Members of Larkspur Park Tennis Club represented their school last Friday on a glorious day in Bishopstown, Cork.
The boys were first out in the Shield Competition. Eoghan Connolly was injured so Adam Skeffington and Michael O’Meara played together.
Luke Quinlan and Jamie O’Keeffe were the second pairing. The competition went down to a supermix and unfortunately Michael and Luke were beaten, despite playing fantastic tennis.
The girls pairing of Katie Morrissey and Caoimhe Perdue were victorious in both their matches. The second pairing of Sophie Burke and Janeanne Fitzgerald were beaten so again it went down to a supermix where Katie and Sophie were the winners.
The team including subs Kate O’Donnell and Abi Muldoon received Munster medals and the Munster Schools Cup. Congratulations to all involved on this great achievement.
A special thanks to Sue Morrissey, Margo Fogarty and Teresa Connolly who accompanied the children to all their matches and to both principals, Mary Andrews and Will Ryan, for their commitment to the promotion of tennis in the primary schools.
Congratulations to the U13 team who beat Tipperary in Tipperary last week in the County Final of the Community games. Katie Morrissey and Caoimhe Perdue were the first pairing to win followed by Eoghan Connolly and Michael O’Meara.
The mixed doubles pairing of Jamie O’ Keeffe and Sophie Bourke also won their match. The team now travel to University of Limerick on July 14 for the next round.
