Deputy Tom Hayes has officially launched a computer for children with special needs. The computer, which is located at Clonmel Library, is sponsored by South Tipperary County Childcare Committee (STCCC). The launch was attended by members and staff of the County Childcare Committee and parents of children with special needs.

Gerry Hickey, manager of STCCC welcomed everyone while Marie Boland, executive librarian, said the library greatly welcomed this resource.

This was a collaborative initiative with S.P.E.A.K., the Parents of Children with Special Needs group, and Clonmel Library. This special computer is a welcome facility for pre-school children and children with special needs. STCCC encourages services to encourage parents to visit this fantastic facility.

S.P.E.A.K was co-founded by South Tipperary County Childcare Committee, Sandra Gibbons and parents in South Tipperary.

Deputy Hayes spoke about the role of the STCCC and the importance of developing resources such as the special needs computer.

Martin Maher, Senior Executive Librarian in Tipperary thanked the STCCC and Marie Boland for the very successful working relations between the local organisations and parents in the county.
