Organisers of the recent Tipperary Festival received high praise at the July meeting of Tipperary Town Council with members declaring it an overwhelming success and a triumph for community spirit.
Discussing the Festival the members congratulated TIRD/Chamber of Commerce and thanked Tipperary Co-op for their support.
They also singled out Elaine Fitzpatrick for particular praise.
Leading the tributes, Cllr. Denis Leahy said the Festival had brought a remarkable revival of community spirit to the town.
“The spirit of Canon Hayes was most definitely present and I want to congratulate the Chamber of Commerce and in particular Elaine Fitzpatrick for all her endurance and hard work in bringing this to fruition,” he said.
Cllr John Hartnett said he also wanted to acknowledge Elaine’s leadership role, particularly in light of the personal loss she suffered with the passing of her father Derry Fitzpatrick and father-in-law Tommy Roche in the month preceding the Festival.
All the members concurred that the Festival had been a huge success story for the town and were already looking forward to next year.
