Cashel Lions Club held their annual senior citizens party in Halla na Feile on Sunday afternoon, and more than 180 revellers turned up to enjoy a wonderful occasion.

This was the third time that the event was held on a Sunday afternoon and judging by the compliments afterwards the traditionally Wednesday night slot might be consigned to history.

The afternoon got underway with a punch reception which was much appreciated on a day when outside temperatures failed get above zero. A musical interlude was provided by St Patrick’s Brass Band under the direction of Kem White (Lions Cashel Person of the Yeas 2014).

This was followed by a most enjoyable three course meal provided by Gearoid O’Sullivan and his team from Rockwell College and served by the Lions members and their partners, plus very welcome help from the Transition Year students at Cashel Community and St John the Baptist Girls Schools.

The top table at the meal was graced by Lions President, Marie Gayson, who welcomed everyone to the party, Fr. Christy O’Dwyer, Monsignor James Ryan and Fr.Tom Hearne. All in attendance enjoyed the afternoon tripping the light fantastic to the music of Fran Curry and Muriel O’Connor.

There was a big number of spot prizes on offer so many of the dancers went home with something to remember.

Cashel Lions Club would like to thank the Order of Malta for providing transport to and from for many of the people who attended the party and everybody else who made it a most enjoyable and successful occasion.
