Tipperry TD and Minister, Alan Kelly, has welcomed initiatives that he says will benefit job creation in Tipperary announced as part of the budget.
Minister Kelly welcomed he retention of 9% VAT rate on tourism activities, the abolition of the air travel tax as well as increased funding for roads and sports activities.
“The VAT retention of 9% will be a welcome benefit to our hospitality sector. It has been proven to work, alleviating pressure on local businesses and helping to create and importantly retain jobs. This is welcome news,” stated Minister Kelly.
Minister Kelly also welcomed additional funding for road maintenance and the introduction of a new sports capital programme. These are part of a suite of measures aimed at improving job creation and investment in rural areas.
“We all know that the roads need quite a degree of investment so this will go significantly towards alleviating some of our worst roads in Tipperary. Meanwhile, many sports and community clubs benefitted this year with new pitches, dressing rooms and other benefits. This will be put in place again next year,” stated Minister Kelly.
