The county council offices in Cahir located at the Erasmus Smith House have been formally disposed of to the Tipperary Energy Agency.
The disposal of the land and buildings was approved by Tipperary County Council on Monday.
Cllr. Andy Moloney said he had hoped that some services could be retained in the building and called on officials if some services could be provided in the library as part of a phase-out period.
Director of Services Sean Keating said a use had been found for the former council offices as part of the proposed efficiences involved in the amalgamation of services. In some towns where offices had closed a customer services option had been established in libraries but the take up on such a service at Cahir library involved minimal usage. Cashel was the only town making full use of such a facility.
