Carrick mass heard in Australia!

An Austrian radio enthusiast listened to the Sunday 12 noon Mass from St Nicholas Church recently.

Patrick Robie, who lives in Leibnitz, tuned into the ceremony on Sunday, November 17 through the Wireless Public Address System (WPAS) Station on 27.715 MHz (Channel UW12).

Patrick has a Microtelecom Perseus SDR communication receiver with an outdoor 12.5 metres magnetic longwire antenna. Following some research on the Internet, he contacted Canon Edmond Cullinan and enclosed a CD with an MP3 recording of part of the transmission of the Mass he heard in Leibnitz.

Patrick also enclosed a card to be signed and stamped and returned to him to verify his story.

The news was a complete surprise to parishioners in St. Nicholas Parish as they assumed the Mass could be heard only by local parishioners on their special radio receivers in their homes
