Carrick-on-Suir Town Council’s elected members will vote on the local authority’s last ever annual budget at a special meeting next Tuesday, December 17.

The Council will meet at the Town Hall at 5pm to consider the budget, which will include agreeing the commercial rate for business properties, parking fees and commercial water charges.

Councillors were presented with the draft budget at the Town Council’s December meeting on Monday night.

Town Manager Pat Slattery said councillors will vote on a 12 month budget for 2014 even though the Town Council will be abolished next May and replaced by the new Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District comprising the town and a large rural constituency. The Co. Council will administer the remainder of the budget after the local elections in June, he explained.
