Carrick-on-Suir strongman Ray O’Dwyer will represent Ireland and Tipperary in the World Masters Highland Games in Inverness next month.

Ray, a former Republic of Ireland Strongest Man title holder, is just back from competing in the Highland Games in Loch Lomond, Mull Island and Inverary. He was placed 2nd and 3rd in events at the four-day tournament.

He has now resumed training at Carrick-on-Suir Fitness Gym in preparation for the World Masters on September 11 to 14.

“It’s great fun and I am proud to be representing Ireland and Tipperary at this level,” he said.

Events Ray will compete at the World Masters Games include Putting the Stone 50lbs over the bar, Caber Tossing 25ft tall, Hammer Throwing for distance 16lbs and 22lbs, Lifting Scotch Stones and other challenges. A huge festival will take place around the Games. Ray is seeking sponsorship. He travels worldwide competing in strength events and thanks all who have supported him over the years.
