Rosegreen Parish Hall thrilled to the sounds of music and dancing, last weekend, as the local community celebrated the tenth annual Senior Citizens’ Party.
Organised by the hard working Rosegreen Development Association, the annual party is one of the highlights of the local social calendar!
Over 140 revellers, including the older residents of the parish along with their friends and family members, sat down to a sumptuous, three-course dinner, lovingly prepared by local volunteers. They especially enjoyed the delicious array of desserts provided following an appeal to the community for tasty treats and every table had a fine selection of sweets.
Every year one local person is honoured with a special treat and this year that honour went to Jerome Quinlan, from the Clonmel Road. Jerome was presented with an impressive cake to mark his 90th birthday!
There to celebrate with him on the day were his family members. Having moved to the area many years ago from the Borrisoleigh area, Jerome and his family became involved in all aspects of parish life and continue to give generously of their time to the wider community, in GAA, local politics and many other areas.
No party is complete without music and dancing, and this was certianly a feature of the Rosegreen shindig. Music on the afternoon was provided by Eddie Holden’s Golden Sound and the light-footed dancers took to the floor from the very first note.
The annual party is a great community effort, enjoyed by everyone involved. The Rosegreen Development Group cover much of the cost of the day thank to the generous support of their summer field day, which takes place every August.
