Completion of Ballyneale Hall revamp is celebrated

The people of Ballyneale celebrated the completion of the €150,000 facelift of their parish hall at an official re-opening ceremony for the community facility.

More than 60 people from the parish gathered at the hall on Saturday, March 1 to see Fr Pat Gear PP of Grangemockler/Ballyneale unveil a commemorative plaque and bless the new look building that is more than a 100 years old

The project’s first €56,000 phase took place in 2009 and involved the replacement of the roof, external doors and windows. The second €90,000 phase , which began last summer and finished before Christmas, included a complete revamp of the building’s interior and some external improvements

Ballyneale Hall Development Committee Treasurer Pat Parle said South Tipperary Co. Council provided €80,000, South Tipperary Development Company gave €28,000 grant aid and the rest was traised through local fund-raising events and donations.

A new committee to run the hall will be elected at Ballyneale Hall Development Fund Committee’s agm at the hall tomorrow Thursday, March 20 at 8pm.
