Labour Senator Denis Landy has called on Minister of State Tom Hayes to expedite investigations into the greyhound industry in the Seanad this week.
Senator Landy called for a full investigation into allegations made by a former Bord na gCon member, outstanding financial difficulties faced by the Board, and the mounting debts over the last number of years.
“Much of the difficulties experienced by the greyhound industry were synonymous with the crisis that befell the country from 2007 onwards. The greyhound industry received €11million from the state in 2014. It is critical that this money is spent in a transparent manner to help to consolidate the thousands of jobs that are part of the greyhound business in this country”, he said.
