Sarah Dillon, who will be remembered with a family fun day in Hillview this Sunday.

A birthday remembrance party for a little girl who brought smiles and happiness to many lives hopes to support charities in her memory.

Sarah Dillon would have celebrated her tenth birthday this week. Sadly she passed away suddenly earlier this year, breaking the hearts of all who loved her. But even though she is gone her family and friends have come together to mark her birthday in a very special way this week, that will celebrate her life and encourage families to come together and have some fun.

This Sunday afternoon everyone is invited to go along to Hillview Sports Club in Clonmel for a day of fantastic fun and games.

Ollie the Clown made Sarah laugh at many of her birthday parties and was looking forward to her tenth. In her memory ‘Ollie’ has taken on the organisation of the fun day.

Ollie is better known to grown-ups as Olwyn Boyle. Olwyn started to organise an event in memory of Sarah and so many people wanted to be part of the special day that it turned into “something big.”

At Sunday’s fun day will be Sarah’s uncle, well known Des Dillon, who will put on a puppet show. On Your Toes dance troupe will perform. One of the highlights for younger party-goers will be a new boy band from Dublin ‘Taken.’

The boy band will also be put to work on the day judging a competition that everyone is invited to take part in. Just bring along a photograph or picture that represents ‘family fun’ to you.

There is no charge to go along to the party, all Olwyn asks is that you make a donation on the day. All money raised will be divided among charities Down Syndrome Ireland and Scoil Chormac, Cashel, in Sarah’s memory.

“This girl filled many people’s lives with smiles and happiness and she will never be forgotten,” Olwyn said. She thanked the people of Clonmel for being so supportive.

“I can’t believe how many lives Sarah touched,” Olwyn added, saying the support, help and prize donations she is getting for the fun day reflect this.
