Vacant local authority houses in South Tipperary will be available to new occupants within twelve months.
€921,104 has been earmarked for Tipperary under a project which will see up to seventy houses that had been boarded up in Tipperary transformed for new tenants.
Fine Gael Councillor, Michael Murphy, has welcomed news that funding has been allocated to renovate vacant local authority units to make them habitable for families.
“It was outrageous to see so many boarded up local authority homes when so many were crying out for appropriate housing” said Cllr.Murphy.
“It is anticipated that the houses will be ready for new tenants quickly and a report of how many new homes are completed and occupied is scheduled for the end of October,” he concluded .
