Getting fit and helping charity too! Perfect!

An enthusiastic group of men and women have come together to get fit and to raise money for a good cause this new year in Cahir.

Over 60 people have registered to take part in Operation Transformation in the town over the next few weeks.

Cahir Tidy Towns Group sent out a call to the public late last year to see if there would be anyone interested in losing a little weight in the New Year with participation in the Operation Transformation Programme on RTE and in the process raise some funds for the Shaun Fogarty Appeal.

Local man, Shaun, needs a lot of medical attention after a car accident earlier in the year left him paralysed from the neck down.

Through Operation Transformation it is hoped to add significantly to his fund and help with the significant costs of ongoing medical care.

Duneske Sports and Leisure Centre came on board to facilitate the programme and with experts on nutritional to offer advice and a team of instructors on site to deal with the fitness side of things, it is off to a great start. All those participating will be weighed in at Duneske on the day. All individual progress will be tracked and the group progress will also be tracked.

There are now over 60 registered for the popular and successful weight loss show and it all kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, January 9, in Duneske Sports and Leisure Centre. Classes are full now and all that is available is the weigh and train yourself or to do your own private training. Classes and walking start at Duneske on Thursday at 7.30pm with an option of a two mile, three mile or fourmile walk on the night. All participants will be notified by text.

Good luck to all involved; we will be watching your progress on the Operation Transformation Programme on TV!
