In the shadow of the famous Rock, Cashel is one of two Tipperary towns staging Darkness into Light this year - it’s Cashel’s first time!

The route that has been selected comprises numerous buildings of note such as The Cashel Palace Hotel, Dominic’s Abbey, the aforementioned Rock of Cashel and Hoare Abbey making it a culture-packed walk/run not to be missed. So arrive early, dress warmly and enjoy!

The annual Pieta House Darkness into Light 5k walk/run will take place on the morning of May 10, at 4.15am, from Cashel Rugby Club, starting in the dark of night and finish just as the dawn is breaking. 37 locations nationwide will hosts events the same morning. We want people to take part in the Cashel event. Go online to dil.pieta.ie/ and register as soon as possible. Early bird registration is open and will continue until April 10.

This symbolic occasion is the Pieta House signature fundraising and awareness event. Who would have guessed back in May 2009, when 400 people took part in the first Darkness into Light walk in the Phoenix Park, that their small celebration of life and symbol of hope would grow to become the nationwide occasion that it is today. In 2013 almost 37,000 people across 20 different venues in Ireland took part. By enrolling for this event you will be helping to save lives and reduce unnecessary suffering and pain in our communities.
