Kelly opens new Clonmel cycle track and footpath

Minister Alan Kelly has this week opened the new cycle track and footpath along the N24 Clonmel Inner Relief Road to link the business areas of Ballingarrane Science and Technology Park/Poppy Fields Retail Park to the residential areas of Haywood Road/Cashel Road.

This was funded directly by Minister Kelly under his Department’s Active Travel Town Programme.

The work for the project was in approximately €533k. Work is underway to also extend the cycleway in future years.

He said- “I was delighted to allocate this funding to Clonmel town. It is a great cycling and walking route that is safe and links a commercial district with a large housing district. It is fantastic for those commuting to work and is also of great use to both leisure walkers and cyclists. I want to congratulate the local authority and thank them for working with me to deliver this project for the people of Clonmel”.
