M8 water hazard at Cahir needs to be investigated

Mattie McGrath has called on the Road Safety Authority to investigate the risks posed to motorists travelling on the M8 South of Cahir due to issues with dangerous levels of water pooling.

Deputy McGrath was speaking after a number of accidents on the motorway, most recently when one car almost overturned: “Any motorist who has to travel on M8 on a regular basis will be aware of the serious risks to driver safety that occur especially in times of heavy or even moderate levels of rainfall. The threats to safety are clearly caused by very poor levels of drainage which build up over time and become a serious hazard.”
