Man dies in crash at Thomastown, Co. Tipperary

A man in his late 60s died when the car he was driving collided with a tractor at Thomastown last Friday around 5pm. John Gaughan, Cahervillahow, Golden, formerly of Ballina, Co. Mayo, was the sole occupant of the car. The driver of the tractor was uninjured. Gardai appeal for witnesses to contact Tipperary Garda Station on 062 -80670, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Mr Gaughan, who is survived by his wife Mary, son Johnny and daughter Sheila, was buried on Monday in Kilfeacle following Requiem mass in St. Patrick’s Church. Neighbour, Minister of State Tom Hayes, said the community was shocked by the tragedy and everyone’s thoughts were with the family.
