Investigations are continuing into a fatal road traffic accident near New Inn that claimed the life of a man in his 60s last weekend.
PJ Hall died in the single vehicle accident which occurred on the R687 (New Inn - Clonmel Road) at Newtown, almost a mile from the village of New Inn, at approximately 2.45pm on Saturday last.
63 year-old Mr. Hall from Queen Street, Clonmel and formerly of Bawnmore and Cashel, was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road, entered a ditch and collided with a tree.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 35 year-old male, was taken to the Clonmel hospital where his injuries were described as non-life threatening.
The road was closed for a time to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision investigators.
PJ Hall was well known and popular in Cashel, Clonmel and throughout Tipperary. Some years ago he operated industrial machinery and skip hire businesses.
He was married to Diane and the couple had three sons - Martin, John and Emmet.
He is also survived by brothers Philip and Charles. He was pre-deceased by another brother, Christy, and parents Charlie and Maisie.

other traffic accidents
There were two other traffic accidents in South Tipperary last Saturday afternoon. Five cars were involved in a crash on the M8 just south of Exit 9 near Minogues of Cashel around 3pm. There were no serious injuries reported.
There was also a collision involving a mini-bus and car at Castleblake, Rosegreen at 12.15pm that day. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to South Tipperary General Hospital.
Meanwhile, a 20 year-old Clonmel man was arrested by gardai last Thursday in connection with their investigation into the fatal road traffic accident on the Fethard Road at Rathronan near Clonmel in the early hours of last Tuesday (March 18). The accident claimed the life of 28 year-old Daniel Conroy from Auburn Square, Clonmel.
The man was detained for questioning at Clonmel Garda Station and released without charge later that day. A file on the case is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
