Pupils from the Gaelscoil Thiobraid Árann, were recently presented with Typewriting and Computer Keyboarding Skills Certificates.

“Everybody needs to know how to use a computer today so having good keyboard skills is a major advantage in the world of study and work,” said Department of Education Typewriting Teacher, Brigid Crosse-O’Driscoll. “It’s important that the pupils have good keyboard and computer skills going into secondary school and onto college as it makes life a lot easier for the student.”

Gaelscoil teacher Ms. Crosse was very pleased with the students progress. “Computer skills is one of the first basic skills and lays the foundation stone for further advancement and gives confidence to the young person at a young age.”

Using their new skills the students did a story titled, Night of the Big Wind in 1839, and compared that with the current superstorm Darwin.

They displayed their typed scripts on their classroom walls.
