300 children will create banners for Junction Festival

Abbott's vascular facility in Clonmel is delighted to announce its sponsorship of this years' Clonmel Junction Festival through the Homes and Habitats primary schools participation project.

Homes and Habitats explores the theme of shelter and was conceived by Japanese-born, Dublin-based artist Atsushi Kaga. The festival brings nine days of music, theatre, circus and arts to the streets of Clonmel from July 4th – 12th.

More than 300 local schoolchildren from seven primary schools in Clonmel will work with Atsushi to create a composition of imaginary characters and stories from the human and animal world. The composition will draw on the arts curriculum in addition to classic and modern art history and will be displayed on banners erected throughout the town prior to, and during, the Festival.

"The Junction Festival is now established as a significant annual event that celebrates the cultural vibrancy of Clonmel. It contributes a great deal to the local economy, attracting visitors from all around the country, with its programme of unique and diverse acts", says Margaret Morrissey, HR Director of Abbott's Clonmel facility.

"As a global health care company, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and we are delighted to once again offer our support to the festival through our sponsorship of the Homes and Habitats participation programme, which engages local children in such an innovative way," she added.
