Ambulance Service Base Needed in Cashel - Browne
Cashel’s Sinn Fein Cllr Martin Browne has called for measures to be taken to have a ambulance service of some sort to be based in Cashel after two separate incidents in the town over the past weekend.
Last Sunday saw a major crash on the motorway just outside the town when up to six cars were involved, this follows on from an incident on Friday when an elderly woman was struck by a car on the main street.
According to Cllr Browne it took 35 minutes for the ambulance to arrive on the scene, in the meantime the lady was lying on the street in pain and distress.
Cllr Browne has called this a crazy situation when you consider that two minutes away is Our Lady’s Hospital and he has asked the Health Minister to stop playing local stroke politics around the country and look into supplying services like an ambulance to hospitals like Cashel before there is a major incident and fatalities.
He is also calling on the local government TD and senator to raise the issue of patients on trolleys in South Tipperary General Hospital with the Minister. On one day in the past week there was the terrible sight of thi30rty people on trolleys in the corridor’s and some of these were stroke patients. The stress and discomfort which this causes to the patient and their families cannot be let continue and as a result this is putting sever pressure on nurses who are stretched to the limit, he siad.
Cllr Browne is also calling for no more hours to be cut from nurses duties as they are under massive pressure trying to deal with the situation they find themselves in at the moment.
