Arson attack on house in Tipp town

There was an attempt to maliciously set a house on fire in Tipperary Town in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Gardai are investigating the arson attack on the two-storey house in James Connolly Park in which an attempt was made to set the front door of the residence on fire.

A spokesman for Tipperary Garda Station said there were three adults inside the house at the time the fire was set alight. The owner of the house contacted the emergency services and the fire was quenched by the time the Tipperary Fire Brigade arrive at the scene.

The spokesman said the damage was confined to the front door area of the house and no one was injured.

He appealed to anyone who saw suspicious activity in the James Connolly Park area on Monday night/Tuesday morning to contact Tipperary Garda Station and assist investigating gardai with their enquiries.

Tipperary Garda Station can be contacted at (062) 51212.
