Boherlahan man to launch ‘Pilgrim Paths’

Boherlahan born outdoor writer and mountaineer, John G O’Dwyer, has spent a quarter century leading groups through the Irish uplands. In 2012, he walked the ancient pilgrim trails of Ireland from Slemish Mountain in the Northeast, where many believe Christianity in Ireland had its first dawning, to Skellig Michael where in medieval times the known world ended.

Each of the 15 routes completed by the author is described in detail within his latest book ‘Pilgrim Paths in Ireland from Slieve Mish to Skellig Michael.’

The book, which is the first attempt to recount Ireland’s pilgrim paths, will be launched by broadcaster Jim Finn in the Watermill, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, at 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 27. All are welcome to attend and John will present a slideshow on his Irish pilgrim journey.
