Cahir Park AFC's Saturday Academy for U-6s to U-9s is now closed for the summer holidays.

The Club pays tribute to the many coaches and parents involved in the academy for their hard work.

All too often people complain about lack of facilities for those out of work or retired.

With opposition from neighbouring leagues lined up over the coming weeks before the start of another TSDL season ahead, First Team manager Billy Byrne used all players at his disposal in the pre-season friendlies played so far.

Plenty of youth team players, along with those fringe players from the B Team and some possible re-signings at the Club, have all had their chance to shine in games against Limerick and Waterford opposition.

In the second of the friendly games last Sunday Southend United from Waterford City were the visitors to Ardfinnan Road and came away with victory in an evenly contested game.

The only goal was the result of a 68th minute penalty.

Particular mention must be made to some youth representation on the day, namely Pa Fitzgerald and Mikey Byrne and to a man-of-the-match performance at centre-back by Davy Willliams. Waterford Glass are next to visit the Park next Sunday at midday.

Meanwhile, the closing date for entries to the Cahir Park AFC Centenary 7-a-side Tournament is August 1.

A seven a side team can be chosen from a panel of ten with three interchangeable subs. A aximum of three registered players are allowed per team. Entry fee is €100 per team.

Anyone Interested in entering a team should contact Ger Halley at (087) 9792279 or Cahir Park at (052) 744 3850.
