Loss and Recovery
Fr. Jim Cogley will present ‘Loss and Recovery’ in Glencomeragh House Retreat, Kilsheelan, on Saturday, March 9, from 10am to 4.30pm including lunch.
This seminar will explore loss in its many facets and how it is also an invitation to Wholeness - ‘While the heart grieves for that which it has lost’.
Lions Zone Meeting
Lions Region 1051 Zone B midterm meeting hosted by the Waterford Club was held in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre on Wednesday, February 20.
Chairperson Caroline Foley Kearns from the New Ross Club welcomed delegates from Waterford, Clonmel, Cahir, Carrick on Suir Clubs as well as the New Ross Club.
Chairperson Caroline informed delegates that the new Charities Legislation both in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland means that all Lion Clubs will have to ensure the timely completion of audited financial accounts to a certain determined quality. This legislation will have an impact on many Lion Clubs activities including grants received from various bodies and fundraising locations. Reports were presented by Cahir; Carrick on Suir; Waterford, Clonmel and New Ross Clubs.
Glengarra Woods Walk
South Tipperary Tourism is hosting the Glengarra Woods Walk this Sunday, March 9, at 2pm, and all are welcome.
Book Reading in the Library
‘Moths Against Glass’ is a new collection of short stories and poetry from emerging Irish writers who are part of the Two Roads Course from NUI Maynooth and hail from counties Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois and Wicklow.
The collection is described as a pilgrim’s manual to the writer’s journey. This works of fiction, non fiction, poetry and prose are testament to the heightened powers of authors who have learned to be honest in and to their voices and the influence of skilled and experienced mentors.
National Tree Week
Carrick on Suir Library, in conjunction with Carrick Town Council and the Tree Council of Ireland, celebrates a Feast of Trees between March 3 and 10.
Oak trees will be gifted to children who use the library as well as an educational display and a quiz for all children. There will be a surprise prize for the winner.

Castleview Lawn Tennis Club
Castleview Lawn Tennis Club had their Presidents Prize hosted by John Glascott, on Sunday, March 3. There was a great entry with 42 players. The competition had two sections, grade 2,3 and 4 together and 5 and 6 together. Great tennis enjoyed by all. Variety of food and refreshments were supplied by the members.
John thanked all who played and those who supplied the food.
There were good finals in the two sections with the members being well entertained.
Section 2,3 and 4 - Winners Michelle Murphy and Aidan Stuart; Runners Up Laura Diffily and Eoin Burke.
Section 5&6 - Winners Robin Murphy and Declan Connolly; Runners Up Mabel Tobin and Paul Commins.
Launch Of A Text Alert System
The Faugheen and Ahenny Community Alert Group are holding a public meeting on Monday next, March 11, at 8pm in the Clubhouse, Faugheen.
At the meeting, they will launch the new Text Alert system for the local community and a presentation will be given on available alarm systems for home and farm yard use.
All are welcome to attend this important meeting.
