Retirement club meetings resume

Carrick-on-Suir Active Retirement Club resumes its fortnightly meetings at the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre this Thursday, September 2 from 2pm to 4pm.

Information about the holiday break to Clonakilty the following week will be given at the meeting. Some seats on the bus are still available.

Anyone interested in travelling should telephone Jimmy at (051) 640398 or Eily at (051) 640464.

New members are welcome to come along to the meeting on Thursday and enjoy a cup of tea, light exercise, dancing and a sing song.

Brewery Lane concert

The popular Fayerweather Band will introduce a new line-up at a concert in the Brewery Lane Theatre this Saturday, September 4 at 8.15pm.

The band will be joined by Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society star Mala Raggett for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and song.

Faugheen ICA meeting

The monthly meeting of Faugheen ICA Guild takes place this Friday, September 3 in the Parish Clubrooms

A good attendance is expected as arrangements for the coming weeks will be discussed.

Lone parents group meeting

The Lone Parent Support Group in Carrick-on-Suir resumes its meetings after the summer break on Thursday, September 9.

The group meets at South Tipperary Lone Parents Initiative's outreach office in Kickham St., Carrick-on-Suir beside Treasure Island Playschool.

New members are welcome to the support group, which will meet from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

A 'Training for Life' course for lone parents is also being run by STLPI this autumn.

The course teaches lone parents to set goals, manage stress, solve problems and develop coping strategies. It will be facilitated by Mary Grant, a qualified and experienced counsellor and is free.

The course is funded by South Tipperary VEC Community Education Programme.

South Tipperary Lone Parents Initiative offers information, support and training to anyone parenting alone and its Carrick-on-Suir outreach office is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm.

Bunny Hop classes return

The popular Bunny Hop Music and Movement classes for babies and young children returns to Carrick-on-Suir's Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre Carrick on Thursday, September 9.

Bunny Hop is one hour of stimulating action, songs and rhymes and musical instruments. The classes are for babies and children aged up to an including four years.

Computer course

Four places remain to be filled on the Beginners Plus Computer Course due to start at Carrick-on-Suir Business Centre next Tuesday.

The Course will run for six weeks on one night a week. To book a place and for further details telephone Susan at (051) 645588 or (051) 642895.

Carrick-on-Suir Business Centre is based in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre.

High Kings concert

The High Kings have changed the date of their concert at the Strand Theatre to Wednesday, November 10.

The popular traditional ballad group that includes Finbarr Clancy from Carrick-on-Suir performed to pack houses at last year's Clancy Music & Arts Festival.

Performing Arts Academy still open for new members

There are still some places available for the autumn term of Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society's Academy of Performing Arts, which resumes this Thursday, September 2.

The term will run for 14 weeks.

Anyone wishing to register a child for the new term should telephone the Strand Theatre between Monday and Friday from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm at phone (051) 645050.

Parts in the Musical Society's pantomime "Jack in the Beanstalk" will be available to Academy members.

Nagle Centre courses

Sign language, First Aid and Irish music are just some of the courses starting at Carrick-on-Suir's Nano Nagle Community Resource this month.

Sign Language starts on Monday, September 27 and runs from 10am to 12 noon and art with watercolours commences on Tuesday, September 14 from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Basic First Aid, cardiac first response, occupational first aid, art (oils), manual handling, Irish and music are other courses taking place at the centre.

The Carers group are hoping to secure a FETAC level 5 course.

Conradh na Gaeilge Irish classes

Craobh O'Hici is holding an Information and Enrolment night for Irish language classes in the Old Mill, New Street, Carrick-on-Suir on Thursday, September 9 at 8.30pm.

Anyone interested in enrolling for classes but unable to attend on the night should telephone Teresa or Henry at (051) 640583 before September 9.

If there are sufficient numbers, students will be prepared for the European Certificate in Irish. The committee thanks the people of Carrick-on-Suir and hinterland for their continued support and generosity.
