Final Morning’s Work.
Weather permitting the final part of the Marlfield Burial grounds clean up takes place on this coming Saturday morning. The carrying and disposal of the cleanings and cuttings which the voluntary workers have gathered will be disposed of. There is a full wheelie bin of discarded cans, bottles and general rubbish which the raking un covered which will be removed off site. When all this work is completed we will have a look at gritting pathways and edging the walk around the chapel but we need funds for this. Any ideas on fundraising welcome.
South Tipperary Co. Council is proposing to relocate the existing bottle bank presently located at Sandybanks. There is a recurring problem with fly tipping in the present location as it is not in full public view and requires very regular cleaning. Each year this problem has been flagged in the tidy towns report and as the local authority gets a copy of the report they are familiar with the problem. The site under consideration at present is the entrance area at the pumping station on the Church Avenue. The Village Committee await a copy of the proposals from the environment section which will have to include planting and public lighting.
