Epic win puts Tipp into All Ireland semi-final

Tipperary's senior hurlers are looking forward to their third All-Ireland Semi-Final in as many years after they beat Galway in an epic quarter-final on Sunday.

Liam Sheedy's team appeared to be on their way out of the championship when they trailed Galway by two points with time running out. But late points from John O'Brien, Gearoid Ryan and Lar Corbett saw Tipp over the line in a dramatic finale.

Their reward for that one-point victory is a return trip to Croke Park for a semi-final against Waterford on August 15, in what will be a repeat of last year's Munster Final (won by Tipp) and the 2008 All-Ireland Semi-Final, in which Waterford had the edge.

Recent wins over Wexford, Offaly and Galway have completed a turnaround in Tipp's fortunes since they were well beaten by Cork in the Munster Championship at the end of May, and they will approach the semi-final with renewed momentum and confidence.
