Garda Ombudsman investigates Tipperary death

The Garda Ombudsman is investigating an incident near Newport, Co Tipperary on Monday evening in which a man died, believed to be from a gunshot wound.

It is understood that the man was in a car stopped at a garda checkpoint.

The Newport to Thurles road has been closed as the investigation gets underway.
