Many of you will have seen Paddy Gleeson, IRCHSS Scholar UCC, surveying at the foot of the Rock of Cashel last year and will have wondered what he was up to; well, next Tuesday’s free lecture in the library will give you the opportunity to find out firsthand.

Paddy, who hails from Silvermines, will be lecturing on the subject of Cashel and the provincial Munster kingship, how it came about, what form it took, and it’s significance throughout the early and later medieval periods in Ireland.

He will undoubtedly tell us all about his survey around the Rock, and what the results tell us about the hidden landscape beneath our feet.

This lecture provides a fantastic opportunity to engage with one of Ireland’s foremost authorities on ancient Cashel, and to hear about results from the very latest research on your locality. And by way of a small ‘teaser’ in advance of the lecture, anyone from Rosegreen who attends will leave this talk both surprised and delighted with new information on how that area features in the kingship story!

The June 12 lecture begins at 7.15pm sharp upstairs in the library, make sure to arrive early to get a good seat!
