ICA guild plan gala dinner

Carrick-on-Suir ICA Guild is organising a gala re-union dinner in October to mark the 100th anniversary of the Irish Countrywomen's Association.

The guild is inviting all past members, friends, supporters and daughters of deceased members to join them in the Carraig Hotel on Saturday, October 16 for the celebration.

The invitation also extends to members of the former Carrickbeg Guild and friends from the neighbouring Faugheen Guild.

Music will be performed on the night by Doc and Co and tickets cost €30.

The guest list is growing rapidly so the ICA is urging those interested in attending get names in soon to avoid disappointment. Tickets are on sale from any guild member or can be collected between 11am and 12 noon from Monday, September 20 to 24 at the ICA Hall, Fair Green, Carrick-on-Suir. Tickets can be booked by telephoning (086) 3128 135 to book.

Before the dinner, a Mass will be celebrated in St. Nicholas Church at 5pm on the Saturday. The guild would like as many members as possible to attend.

The guild's monthly meeting takes place on Wednesday, September 15 instead of the usual second Wednesday of the month as members will be attending Tipperary Week at An Grianan.

A good attendance is needed as final arrangements for the gala dinner will be discussed.

Anyone interested in becoming a member should come along and sample the hospitality without having to make a commitment.

Set dancing classes for guild members recommence next Tuesday, September 7. Further details can be obtained from Birdie Grace.
