As the days lengthen and brighten the Loreto School Community will celebrate the arrival of Spring with an evening of music and song.

Date for your diary: Wednesday 20th March 2013 at 7.30pm. Venue: School Sports Hall

Tickets available from the school (052-6121402) and Marians Bookshop (052-6123813) There will be a raffle on the night and so raffle tickets will be available before the concert and at the interval.

The school has a proud tradition of music as the work of the classroom teachers is complemented by private music teachers who provide tuition in Flute, Voice and Piano.

On the night the audience will be treated to a variety of musical traditions and genres, solo and group performances. Ms. Breda Geoghegan and Mr. Conor Power, Music teachers at Loreto Secondary School, have indicated that there will be performances by the School Orchestra, Junior and Senior Choir and the Trad Groups.

Annually the school also holds an event called ‘Loreto’s Got Talent’, so a number of the finalists will perform their acts and the overall winner, soloist, Clodagh Lalor will also feature.

The night also sees the launch of a fundraising drive for the school towards enhanced Science and Home Economics facilities. The Board of Management has sanctioned the development of a new Science laboratory and a second full size Home Economics Kitchen. This will see the school with three fully equipped Science Laboratories and two Department standard Home Economics Kitchens to cater for its student population of 520 girls. This work is due to commence this summer. In an era when we can no longer depend on funding from the government it is the responsibility of the parents, staff, students and indeed the whole Loreto School Community to take the initiative to ensure the best possible education facilities for our students.
