Marlfield Village News

Untimely Death

Marlfield Village was shocked when news of the untimely death of Michael Lambe became known. Michael was a very familiar figure in the village he lived in all his life and his death while still at work in Clonmel Borough Council was a shock to his family, work colleagues and friends. Michaels funeral mass was celebrated at St Marys and the large attendance was an indication of the esteem he was held in by all who worked with and knew him. Michael was given a guard of honour from his club mates past and present with a grave side oration by Michael Egan before he was laid to rest. To his sisters Frances, Mary and Alice and their families we extend our deepest condolences. May he rest in peace.

Mass

Mass will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Chapel Marlfield on Sunday the 10th February at 9.30am

Aisle Project

At our recent village meeting the committee have set a target of fundraising to relay the central aisle of St Patricks Chapel. This will entail the careful lifting, numbering and relaying of the stone paving to restore to what it looked like originally. Presently there is a carpet covering the aisle with pads of felt covering the sunken areas which is in poor condition. Any financial help gratefully accepted by the committee as we will have to have the monies in hand before commencing the work.
