Memorial Motorbike Run

A Memorial Motorbike Run took place recently to remember John O'Brien of Farnagark, Cahir who died in a tragic accident in February last year.

More than 60 bikes took part in the run which the O'Brien family and John's parents organised in aid of South Tipperary Hospice. John's parent's, Liam and Maureen worked tirelessly to get sponsorship and were rewarded with the grand total of j4,020.

There was a presentation of a cheque to Alice Ward, a hospice representative, in The Punters Rest last Thursday evening. On the presentation night the cheque was for j3,754.55 and by Friday after another card had come in with j117, Micheal Fitzgerald donated j50 and Liam O'Brien then rounded it off to the €4,000 mark and then the final figure of j4,020 when an extra j20 added by a regular punter!

The O'Brien family would like to thank all who supported the run, all who collected cards, all businesses both local and in Tipperary Town and Bansha who sponsored raffle prizes, and all those who participated in the run and who made the day what it was, a memorial to their son and brother, John O'Brien.

Alice Ward would like to thank all concerned especially Caroline Conran of The Punters Rest and family, all sponsors, bikers and anyone who helped in any way towards this worthy cause.

Well done to all involved.
