New website is launched
A new website has just been launched for the town of Carrick-on-Suir, designed by local IT consultant Robert Glascott
The website address is www.carrickonsuir.info and it is hoped that the site will be a useful resource for local people, while also promoting tourism and attracting Industry.
With this new interactive site, every organisation and business in Carrick-on-Suir can have a presence which they can easily update themselves. It will be a one stop shop for business, sport, opinion leaders, clubs and all indigenous organisations, as well as creating awareness of the potential that Carrick has to offer. It also includes latest town news, polls, notice boards, photo galleries, video gallery, business directory, featured advertisements and Census 1911 information.
The website also has a social dimension and incorporates a mini-social network area similar to Facebook, with chat rooms, forums, an event guide and a correspondents' area which will allow people to share a story that is of interest and value to the people of Carrick. It will be a community site by the people for the people.
According to Mr Glascott, the site has already become a great success with over 1,000 hits within a few days of the launch, together with emails of gratitude and positive feedback from a number of people who have signed the online guestbook.
The new website will not go out of date as it is designed to be updated automatically. As time goes on, the site is likely to become more popular with increasing awareness, presence on search engines and new content uploaded by the community.
