Rathgormack men test their strength at family fun day

The muscle power of the men of Rathgormack was put to the test when they attended a family fun day at their local GAA grounds.

Their Sunday afternoon visit to the field day turned into a battle of strength as they were commandeered to take part in the tug of war competition.

It was one of a host of events at the fun day organised by Comeragh Rangers Ladies Football Club in association with Rathgormack GAA Club.

Welly throwing, a long puck competition, horse shoe throwing, penalty shots, a dog show and novelty races also formed part of the action packed afternoon.

The sunny weather and the fact it was the final weekend of the summer drew a large crowd to the fundraiser last week.

Comeragh Rangers Senior team manager Michael Flynn reported that about 250 adults attended the event alone and there were many more children, whose entry to the field day was free.

He said the success of the fun day exceeded their expectations and he paid tribute to Michelle Hennebry and the management committee of the club for their work in organising the event. He also paid tribute to the event's sponsors.

"It was a brilliant day and we want to thank everyone who came and supported it," he said.

All funds raised at the fun day will help finance the running costs of Comeragh Rangers Ladies Football Club.
