Gardai seized explosive devices and arrested three men in Cahir on Thursday evening in connection with dissident Republican activity.

Gardai arrested three males on the N24 at Cahir yesterday (Thursday) evening as part of an ongoing investigation into dissident Republican activity. The men were arrested during an operation involving members of the Special Detective Unit, other national and local garda units.

Three men, all aged in their 30s, were arrested at the scene and a number of explosive devices were seized along with two motor cars.

Technical and ballistic examinations are ongoing.

The men were detained last night under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939 for questioning at Clonmel and Cahir Garda Stations.
