Tipp soldier helps provide vital water supply to Lebanese hospital

While others celebrated the New Year, the troops of IRISHBATT were called upon to aid the people of Bint Jubayl in Lebanon.
A recent issue with the local water supply caused the Governmental Hospital in Bint Jubayl to run extremely low on water. IRISHBATT upon hearing their plight diverted their own water supply to ensure the continued operation of vital services.
To maintain this ability, IRISHBATT, led by A Company 105 Infantry Battalion with the support of the Battalion Transport Platoon, organised a daily convoy to Bint Jubayl. Each convoy delivered up to 20,000 litres of water per day for three weeks and counting. This has meant the strict rationing of water at UN Post 6-5 home of the Irish Battalion, in order to ensure the ability to provide maximum effective assistance to Bint Jubayl hospital and all the people it so diligently serves.
IRISHBATT are pleased that it can provide such valuable assistance to their friends of South Lebanon.
Private (Pte) David Hanrahan of Kilsheelan provided valuable assistance to this relief effort. David is a member of A Company 105 infantry Battalion and is currently serving in Lebanon since November 2011, where he is due to remain in service until mid May 2012.
