Training intensifies for Charity Fight Night
Boxers training for the Lions Club White Collar Boxing Tournament in aid of Clonmel Boxing Club. The Charity Fight Night will be held at the Clonmel Park Hotel on Saturday, November 17th.
It is said time passes quickly when you are having fun. Week 5 is upon us and the training is getting more intense for the Clonmel Lions Club Charity Fight Night at the Clonmel Park Hotel on Saturday, November 17, which will be a fundraiser for Clonmel Boxing Club. The enthusisam of the men and women volunteers to follow the instructions from Shauna O’Keeffe and Jade Fennessey is evident for all to see. Training is not just about physical fitness, it is mainly about the skill of boxing. Footwork is very important, so too is movement of the body. Hand to eye co-ordination is paramount and as anyone watching the sport will know it can be the difference between success and defeat.
Work mates, family and friends will be in for a big suprise at the event when they see the skills that have been acquired by the competitors. It will be hard to recognise them in the ring, not because of the head gear, but because of their skill.
Tickets are selling out fast for this event so it would be advisable to purchase them soon to avoid disappointment. They are available from the social clubs in the participating companies and Lions committe members.
Not all of the lads can make training on Tuesday and Thursday nights due to shift work but Clonmel Boxing Club have pulled out all the stops to help with this. They have organised training sessions on the mornings of the regular sessions, which are facilitated by Keith Galvin. Credit must go to these people who give up their free time to pass on their skills that they have gained in the club. The training coincides with the regular training in the club.
