Tributes to retiring Tipperary Garda inspector
Tributes were paid at Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir District Courts last week to Gda. Inspector Kevin Bowen, who is retiring from the Garda Siochana.
The inspector, based at Clonmel Garda Station, covered his last sittings of both district courts as the prosecuting garda officer last Tuesday and Thursday, September 4 and 6.
The popular garda is taking early retirement from the force after completing 30 years service and will soon commence studying for a law degree.
At the end of his final court sitting in Carrick-on-Suir last Thursday, Judge Terence Finn said the conduct of courts business was sometimes fraught with difficulty but Gda. Insp. Bowen had strove over the years to deal with impossible impositions on the part of the court with equanimity, which the judge appreciated.
Judge Finn also paid tribute to Insp. Bowen’s attention to detail, the research he carried out and the arguements he put before the court and he was pleased to hear he was going to develop his talents towards expanding that particular skill.
He concluded by expressing the hope that he would see him in his court again in another role.
Gda. Insp. Bowen thanked Judge Finn and also thanked Gda. Sean Buckley for his assistance in prosecuting cases at the court.
