Two gardai in hospital after patrol car is rammed

Two gardai have been hospitalised after their official patrol car was rammed in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

The gardai had been in pursuit of another car when the incident occurred.

A car that was acting suspiciously drew the attention of gardai in the Cashel, and it was pursued in the direction of Tipperary.

A short distance from Tipperary Town the garda patrol car was rammed. A number of youths were seen running from the scene.

The two gardai in the patrol car were taken to hospital for treatment.

They remain in hospital as The Nationalist goes to print, on Tuesday, and their conditions are described as stable, not life threatening.

The matter is currently under investigation by a Garda Inspector based in Tipperary Town.
