Mary’s book promotes good health the natural way

A new book that promotes good health through natural remedies and a healthy lifestyle was launched recently at Clonmel Library.
Natural Health Through Wiser Living is the fifth book on the subject that Mary T. Keane has written and is a re-issue of her book Natural Health, which was published more than 20 years ago.
“In our lifestyle and eating habits we go off the beaten track on the route to good health”, she says.
Originally from Barrack Street in Cahir, where she has returned to live, Mary trained in Liverpool as a teacher and for some years pursued that profession, firstly in Manchester and later when she returned to Ireland. However her abiding interest was always health and fitness.
Her lifelong research in natural health has resulted in the publication of four books on the subject.
Since writing those earlier works she obtained a Herbal Diploma, which prompted her to produce ointments, creams, oils and lotions. Mary has also written local history books on Cahir and ten years ago secured a diploma in Irish at UCC.
Depsite her passion for natural remedies, she stresses that her book isn’t a substitute for proper medical help and says that people feeling unwell or with any concerns about their health should always consult their doctor.
Mary’s book discusses a wide range of natural remedies for a list of complaints that range from high cholesterol and gallstones to arthritis, migraine and muscle cramps.
She also promotes the importance of food such as onions and garlic; the sodium potassium battle in the body; and the dangers posed by overeating and lack of exercise.
Mary says that like the animal, people should follow their instincts when selecting food and drink.
The book will be on sale shortly in Eason’s bookshops nationwide.
