New heart screening device coming to Clonmel

Pulse Ireland, a Tipperary-based company is coming to Clonmel with the revolutionary BPRO heart screening device that could revolutionise blood pressure monitoring. The BPRO device works by a sensor in a watch recording the pulsewave of the artery, which is then fed into a computer together with a traditional blood pressure reading. The company is then able to read the pressure close to the heart from the aorta, as well as the flexibility of the arteries.

Pulse Ireland are bringing the BPRO device to the Clonmel Park Hotel next Wednesday, October 3rd. Appointments are available from 10am to 7pm.

Clubs and sports organisations may avail of special rates. Appointments are essential - call 087-6290851.

The BPRO recently won the prestigious innovation accolade and technology accolade in the Times awards for revolutionising the way blood pressure has been measured for over 100 years. The Save 1 Heart foundation in the United States have recently commenced screening 50,000 Americans using the BPRO.

Screenings will be carried out by a certified BPRO technician and a full printout of screenings, should they be required for a cardiologist or GP, will be provided.

The British Heath Secretary Andrew Lansley said the device was a “great example of how research breakthroughs and innovation can make a real difference to patients lives”.

The BPRO is now approved by cardiologists in 35 countries worldwide.
