New school year at Coláiste Dún Iascaigh

New School Year

The new school year is up and running, with this year’s start coming just over a week after the release of the Leaving Certificate results. The class of 2012 in Coláiste Dún Iascaigh produced a rich harvest of results, a fitting testimony to their dedication and commitment to their work. Students produced excellent points and results, and reaped the benefit in getting places on their preferred course and apprenticeship choices. It is certainly a case of “The West’s Awake” as a large group of students have chosen to head to NUI Galway for their third-level education. Traditional favourite destinations such as UCC, UCD, The National College of Art and Design, University of Limerick, Mary Immaculate College, TCD and the Institutes of Technology at Cork, Waterford and Limerick are also popular with the class of 2012. The management and staff of Coláiste Dún Iascaigh were thrilled with the successes of the students and wish them well in their future careers. We also want to wish the best of luck to our new first years as they begin this new important step on their educational journey. We hope that they find their feet quickly and we expect that they will make a positive contribution to our school community.

After-school study

Consistency and effort in homework are key to exam success, and to that end Coláiste Dún Iascaigh offers an after-school study facility to students. Study runs from 3.40pm to 5.55pm Monday to Friday. The fee for the year is €265, with a number of payment options. Parents interested in availing of this for their sons/daughters should contact the college for an application form, or alternatively a form may be downloaded from the college website, www.colaisteduniascaigh.ie.

Condolences

The staff and students of the Colaiste wish to extend their sympathies to Mr Sean Landers on the loss of his brother and to Mr Paddy Lonergan and Mrs Helen Cunningham on their recent loss.
