Community Alert / Text Alert

The Community Alert area, consisting of Skeheenarinky, Coolagarranroe, Kiltankin, and Dromroe, will be taking part in the Text Alert program. This program is a collaboration between Garda Siochana and Muintir na Tire and allows those enrolled in the program to text the committee about suspicious activity observed in the vicinity. The committee can then forward the text to the Gardaí and to all other persons in the area who are enrolled in the program. Signs announcing that this is a Text Alert community will be installed throughout the area. Within the next few weeks, members of the committee will call to every house in the community and leave a packet of information. Those who are interested in joining will complete a form and pay a small once-off fee of no more than €20. It is expected that Text Alert will help to lessen the number of undesirable occurrences. More information to follow.

Tin Whistle

It’s great to see the pupils at the National School carrying their Tin Whistles as they go to and from School. Who knows where this first step in music will lead to. As well as fostering a love of playing music, playing the tin whistle can be a means of preserving Irish traditional tunes. Well done to the teachers and pupils. It would be great to get to hear the pupils play sometime!
