Some weeks ago we featured a Bulmers staff party from 1983 in our Nostalgia feature, and this week it’s the turn of a group of women who attended the same function in 1980.

Those who enjoyed themselves at the dinner dance 33 years ago included, standing, Freda Madigan, Frances Hyland, Mary Steadman and Catherine Walsh. Seated, Evelyn Burke, Mary Crotty and Marie Tobin.

Three of the photos are of a sporting theme. Two talented young members of Clonmel Athletic Club, Hilda Delaney and Paula Kearns are featured, as is a Clonmel Town soccer team. The team is pictured before a match at what is now the site of The Showgrounds Shopping Centre and includes many well-known faces who have had a long association with the game.

Three well-known soccer referees from the late 70s and early 80s are pictured at an awards function in 1980. They are Ned Spillane, Anthony Wynne and Pat Condon.

Elsewhere popular local curate Fr. Paul Beecher is featured, as are two well-known and popular citizens, Maura Pyke and Margaret Arrigan.
