Two outings for Clonmel hockey team

Clonmel played COI at home on Saturday. Despite being depleted in numbers Clonmel put out a very strong team. Clonmel pulled out all the stops to hold COI for the entire match.

The back line of Andrea O’Dea, Kate O’Sullivan, Jen Quinlan, Sinead Heffernan, Monica Ryan and Jenny O’Brien fought consistently to break down the COI advances. Marie Kelly, just returned from injury, hit a blinding goal into the back of the net, leaving the final score Clonmel 1 COI 1.

Division 5:

Clonmel travelled to Blackrock on Saturday to take on league leaders Blackrock. Clonmel were faced with a tough challenge from the start of the game. There was intense play for the first half, which Clonmel dominated most of. Clonmel sent home a lovely goal from a short corner tapped in by Geraldine Boland.

Rachel Lonergan was outstanding in goal, she even had the posts working to her advantage. Blackrock failed to score until the second half despite numerous advances. Jen Quinlan and Leah were relentless in fighting for the Clonmel possession. Fantastic performance from Clonmel.Final score Clonmel 1 – Blackrock 1
