Dinny O’Sullivan Memorial Cup
There was a great turnout for the fourth annual Dinny O’Sullivan Memorial Cup competition at the weekend. John Hurley, Ed Daly and Anthony O’Dwyer were the winners with a score of 55.0 nett for the 18 hole 3 person scramble competition. The team of Liam Kelly, Tommy Looby and Robert Reid finished second with a score 57.8 the same score as the third placed team Paul Kelleher, Billy Phelan and Pat Hickey. The prize presentations took place immediately after the competition on Sunday evening and Dinny’s son James presented the cup and prizes to the winning team on behalf of the O’Sullivan family.
The Ladies Winter League is now completed. We will have the full results for you next week. The weather was the winner last week when we had no competition. We are having a 3 ball scramble on Sunday 24th and Tuesday 26th March with all the proceeds going to Daffodil Day. The March Monthly 12 hole stableford competition is ongoing at the moment. Please note the Junior Alliance at Slievenamon on Monday next the 25th March between 9.30am and 12 noon.
Rory Doherty was the winner of the weekly singles with a great score of 44 points for the 18 hole competition. Seamus O’Connor was second with 41 points and David Corbett finished third with the same score. Denis Burke won the gross prize with 32 points. Anyone interested in trying out for our club teams (Purcell, Bruin. JB Carr etc) this year should put their names down on the notice board. The full details of the different teams, team managers etc are on the notice board.
The team of Billy Phelan, Michael Nolan Jnr and Con Lucey were the winners of the rumble competition on Wednesday last with a great score of 93 pts, a full ten points clear of their nearest challengers Jim O Brien, Francis Fitzgerald and John Beckett and the team of Brian McNally, Frank Lonergan and Jackie O’Dwyer were another two points back in third. Please note that the seniors meet every Wednesday morning with a draw for partners at 9.30am and the competition starts at 10.00am sharp. All members over 55 and their friends are welcome.
The junior coaching is back on Saturdays at 1.00pm. All juniors are welcome to attend and the coaching is by our professional Suzie O’Brien. New members are always welcome.
If you would like a game of bridge in a friendly atmosphere, why not come to our weekly game on Monday nights at 7.30pm. All are welcome and you do not need a partner; just come along. Heather has started her Whist Drives on Wednesday nights, so if you want to learn how to play whist or just to come and enjoy a night out, come along at 7.30pm.
